From a manual wheelchair ramp to a remote operated tailgate and ramp combination, there are plenty of solutions for a wheelchair passenger to gain access to the vehicle. We offer a range of passenger lifts and ramp solutions that can be fitted to a wide range of vehicles.
Steps
To assist access into a vehicle we offer a number of step options. Steps are usually fitted to larger vehicles with greater headroom than a typical car. Examples include the Peugeot Expert and some commercial vehicles including the Peugeot Boxer and Ford Transit to name a few. Our step solutions are both manual and automatic.
If your vehicle is fitted with a ramp for wheelchair access GM can turn your tailgate into a powered and remote operated tailgate at the touch of a button. We can also automate your manual ramp so it too will open remotely in conjunction with the tailgate. We have solutions for nearly any type of wheelchair accessible vehicle.
For vehicles already fitted with a wheelchair ramp, we can help to minimise the effort needed to board the wheelchair occupant by fitting a winch. The motorised winch will pull the wheelchair into the vehicle only requiring the carer to guide it up the ramp. Call us to discuss your requirements and we’re certain to be able to help.
GM offers a range of options for turning doors which you manually open into fully automated doors. This could be on any vehicle fitted with barn doors, a tailgate or side doors. At the touch of a button on a remote fob the doors will open and close. We also offer door stay modifications and the electric plug door which would be fitted to larger commercial vehicles.
On a vehicle where a ramp isn’t an option, we offer a wide range of passenger lifts to allow the wheelchair passenger to board the vehicle. These electric lifts can be fitted inboard or underfloor at the rear of the vehicle, or under the floor at the side of the vehicle. The fitting of a lift will depend on the height inside the vehicle. Telescopic ramps are an option which stow away in the vehicle and latch onto the side door or rear door to allow a wheelchair user to access the vehicle. These can be fitted to most vehicles and offer a neat solution where the vehicle cannot be adapted for wheelchair access. Call our team for more information.
